What I Know

I know what it is like to the youngest in the family. Being the youngest in my family has its advantages but there are some cons that come along with it. It can sometimes be good to be the youngest or bad, depending in the situation. An advantage about being the youngest is that I do not have to take as many responsibilities as my 25 year old brother Jovan, or my 17 year old sister Julianna. I am not expected to have a job already or cook dinner when my mom does not. I still get chores but not as much as my brother used to, or my sister does. A con about being the youngest is that I still get treated like a little kid. I don’t have as much freedom as I feel I should have. My parents, especially my mom thinks that I am still too young to do a lot of stuff that my friends do. Every time I ask for permission to do something it is like playing 20 questions, sometimes I don’t even want to ask because of how my parents will react to it. I know what it is like to be the youngest in the family. Being the youngest has its fair share of pros and cons, I may not get as much freedom as I would like to but on the other hand I do not have to take on as many responsibilities.
Who Is To blame? Who is most to blame for the murder of Larry King? In my opinion Brandon Mcinerny is most to blame. I think he is most to blame because he was the one who planned to shoot Larry. Even though he was mad and Larry he shouldn’t have shot him, he should have talked to someone. Larry wore girth clothing and makeup to school; this drew a lot of attention to him. This gave him the reputation of the weird kid at his school. He began harassing boys in the P.E locker room. In class teachers would make complaints about his clothing being distractive to his other class mates. All the complaints went to joy Epstein, the assistant principal at E.O green middle school. She had said she would take care of the problem. Being gay herself, instead of asking Larry to try to tone it down a little she encouraged him to continue. This caused Larry to wear the girly cloths still. Larry asked Brandon to be his valentine in front of all his friends at lunch. This got Brandon mad and embarrassed. His friends said he and Larry would make gay babies together. Instead of Brandon talking to an administrator about what had happened, he wanted to take matters into his own hands and planned to soot Larry the next day. He thought about he was going to do overnight and he decided to go through so he shot Larry in the computer lab the next day. So who is to blame for Larry’s murder? I think Brandon is to blame. He planned his murder and went through with it; it was nobody else’s fault that he shot Larry. For this he has to pay the consequences.

Text VS Images Susan Sontag states that texts and words provide more knowledge than images. I disagree with her statement, I can learn more from looking at a photo of a topic than reading a sentence about it. Images provide proof of something and the actual reality when words can be changed. Words might be able to give you a faint image in your mind, but everyone gets a different picture in their mind from a text, but with an image everyone sees the same thing. Susan Sontag said “One never understands anything from a photograph”. This is a false statement, in watching the slide show of the poverty in New York and child labor I would never have gotten the same effect from reading an article about it. After reading the story of To Kill a Mockingbird I thought I knew what the poverty of that era was like. I thought I knew what lynched men on a tree looked like and how the racist reacted to it. But after seeing the slide show in class my perspective of it all changed, the raw pictures showed me the reality, when words can be bent and altered to make an event sound more interesting. Sontag’s opinion on images is that they can give you no knowledge on a topic, as words can give you all the knowledge. My opinion is that a picture is worth a thousand words and a text can’t do what images can. It was the first and only ball that I caught. I chose this of all my objects because it was the first baseball game I ever went to. He thought about it over night and then took action by bringing a gun to school and then shooting Larry King in the head more than once.
I strongly believe that he should not be tried as a juvenile because that means that he will get out at age 25, and it is likely that he will do something like this again because of his messed up family. His dead father, crack addicted mother, and his criminal brother. Chances are he won’t get better.
So in my mind I think he should be tried as an adult and not juvenile. Larry is dead and he didn’t get a second chance so why should Brandon?

Should marriage be arranged or should one be able choose for himself? I think that someone should be able to choose who they want to spend the rest of their life with. I don’t think someone else can possibly choose who should marry for you. It should be only your decision. It’s your life.
In an arraigned marriage, if your parents choose for you it might be a better decision than you would make because your parents are much older and wiser. They have experience with marriage than you do. Your parents could know you well enough to know whose is a good match for you.
